Everything that you wanted to know about calories (Part 1)
We accuse calories of all our sins, in fact they force us to feel guilty that we could not be kept from a superfluous slice of a pie on days off, and now we cant put on our favorite jeans! But thus these awful calories are similar to oxygen - it is simply impossible to live both without them! Calories have nothing bad, simply, as well as everything that is necessary for supporting vital balance: the quantity of acting calories should not exceed the quantity of spent calories, and then you will always be in form and full of energy.
1. What is a calorie?
As a quart - a unit of measure of volume and inch – of lengths, a calorie - is a unit of measure of energy. The quantity of calories is measured in food quantity of energy which will be received by your organism, and then will be used for maintenance of all vital processes: a good metabolism, palpitation, growth of hair, treatment of wounds, escalating of a muscular fabric, etc. We receive calories only from 4 components of food: from fibers and carbohydrates (4 cal.\gram), alcohol (7 cal. \gram) and fat (cal.\gram). There are no calories in vitamins, minerals and water.
2. How to calculate, how many calories should be taken for growing thin?
First of all, it is necessary to learn, how many calories you receive daily. For this purpose start to conduct a special diary where you will write down everything that you have eaten for the period equal, at least, to two week-days and one day off (in fact many people eat differently on days off). Calculate quantity of calories of each product, combine it, and then divide the total sum into the quantity of days for which you kept a diary. So you will receive an average quantity of calories which you consume every day.
Other way of approximate calculation of quantity of consumed calories can be done by using the special formula:
- If to you are 18-30 years old, increase the weight on 6,7 and add 487;
- If to you are 31-60 years old, increase the weight on 4 and add 829;
Then increase the turned out number on 1,3, if you conduct an inactive way of life or your work assumes constant stay in office behind a computer, and you are not engaged in any sport exercises; increase the turned number on 1,5, if you are moderately active, visit a sports club 2-3 times a week; increase the turned number on 1,6, if you are active enough and you are doing sport exercises 4-5 times a week, or your work is connected with physical activities; increase the turned number on 1,9 if you are very active, if you go to in for sports every day and you are constantly moving.
