Static stretching

The system of stretching has occurred in the middle of the 20th century in Sweden, but only 20 years later it was started to be actively applied in sports later and has received the substantiation in practical work of American and Swedish scientists. The experts consider the method of stretching as the most effective method of prevention of traumas, maintenance of mobility, removal of a pressure, and also the source of working capacity and life quality.
It is not a secret that during our dynamical and stressful time frequently we loose the skill to relax. And in fact the relaxation helps to suspend the unnecessary energy expenditures; it also helps to neutralize exhaustion, removes a nervous pressure, and gives sensation of rest and concentration. Weakening massage and special exercises can also be helpful.

This complex of exercises includes only statistical stretching. This means that all exercises should be carried out in quiet and slow rate, thus the most part of time the muscle is motionless and keeps the maximal length.
 Warm-up can consist of jumps on a skipping rope within 2-3 minutes or vigorous walking on a place in a combination with flapping movements of hands.
Do not apply excessive efforts, stretching muscles. No less than 6-10 seconds should pass before they adapt for a new condition.
Then the nervous system will allow muscular fibres to relax and change length.
During the following of 20 seconds you should feel gradual easing of pulling sensation.
This sensation should completely almost disappear after 30 seconds. If it does not occur, it means, you are stretched with too big amplitude that can cause a pain and a pressure in muscles.
You should change slightly the position until the pulling sensation will disappear.
It will allow muscles to get used to new length. Expression “no pain, no victory” is inapplicable in stretching.
Also it is important to mind breath. Having accepted a starting position, make a deep breath, then pull the necessary muscle on an exhalation.
It is very important to avoid sharp movements, in order to prevent drawing harm to a stretched muscle.
